A Postcard For You From Pogradec City
What a beautiful feeling it is to wake up in the morning; between the warm fragrance of the sea and the fresh summer air, where everything sparks: the splendor of the majestic mountains and the slow awakening of the sun in the blue space. I woke up, opened the front door of the patched wooden balcony, stretched my arms forward, letting sun awaking my sleepy eyes.
Opposite me lie vast mountains, sculpted pure under water, as if they're painted with pastels. Behind the thrilling beauty, lies the silent sun, which blazes across the sky. I looked out over the villa where I was resting, the fabulous town; the flowers blooming their sweet petals, the bells of the church ringing and the villagers greeting each other kindly in the morning. Somewhere farther apart were the green fields, set up like a golden mantel, where you see farmers working their lands; cultivating vegetables, watering fruits and vegetables that grow in their farms. Old and gentle ladies cleaning the backyard, roasting peppers on the gas cylinder in the yard, shaking the carpets, fixing the flowers that were tangled everywhere around the villa. I saw some women laying on white blankets, preparing rosnicas (traditional pastas), spreading them out in the sun to get dry. Other women opening the slices of pie very carefully on the terrace of the house. There were beautiful flowers everywhere, the lilies were the most fragrant flowers found in almost every villa. Somewhere below, in the cobbled alley, old houses lie wooden houses with eyelashes, with doors eaten and dusted by excess years; a magical noise is heard. I hear the footsteps of the inhabitants descending the hill; tak-tak-krtrtak, as they step on the cobblestones filled with pebbles. In their hands, the water bottles are shaken here and there. Following the pleasant noise coming down the hill; It is the village of Kroi. The beauty of the small town is hidden behind the cool, fresh water that arises from the spring. I quietly hear the sound of water flooding the 5 springs of the creek. Imagine the cold that penetrates the veins of the wrists when they are refreshed by the cold water. I imagine the sweet aroma of drinking fresh water on hot mornings and feeling my lungs breathe.
The poem came to mind in the blackboard I came across when I was standing the day before in , written in white letters next to the stone wall next to the :
“KROI I FSHATIT TONË, TETË SYLYNJAVË - “KROI OF OUR VILLAGE, EIGHT SYLYNJAVA"
NËR TETË KRAHINA QËNKE KROJ I PARË - "ON EIGHT HEADQUARTERS YOU ARE THE FIRST KROJ "
QËNKE NJË NË BOTË, S’PASKËSHE TE DYTË - "YOU ARE NUMBER ONE IN THIS WORLD" ÇNA SHËROKE PLAGËT, ÇNA SHËROKE SYTË “ - "YOU HEAL PAIN , YOU HEAL EYES"
